eDivvy: Spend Less, Give More
Christmas decorations have been up for weeks, radio stations have started playing carols, even the tv commercials have a decidedly Christmas vibe. But in the midst of an economic downfall, many of us are having to change the way we do Christmas.
According to the National Retail Federation, group gifting is on the rise, and eDivvy.com is dedicated to making that process easier for you.
eDivvy takes the hassle out of collecting the money for group gifts. Family and friends can just login and pay their portion directly to the site. And if you organize a group gift right now, they'll give you a $25 gift card!
eDivvy works with major retailers including Macy's, Target, Amazon, Apple, and even Lego. They have taken the guess work out of shopping by offering suggestions about group gift ideas. You can search by event, like Bride-to-be and New Baby, or you can browse their selection of gifts by interest.
To be honest, though, what caught my eye are the care packages. eDivvy has put together care packages for those serving our country.
Caring is sharing -- and truer words were never spoken. Sending a care package is enough to make grown adults cry. It’s like Christmas and your birthday rolled into one. Each item is destined to be cherished and appreciated for months and months. They also have care packages for boarding school and college care.
If you were looking into cutting down your holiday costs, this would be a fantastic way to do it. eDivvy makes gifting fun, easy, and affordable.
Thanksgiving Point Invites Guests to Eat Like a Pilgrim
Celebration Transforms Show Barn into a 17th Century Feast for the Entire Family
Thanksgiving Point, Utah’s premiere cultural center, will host its annual “Eat Like a Pilgrim” feast and festivities on Nov. 20, 21 and 23. Guests of all ages are invited to a one-of-a-kind, hands-on discovery of the first Thanksgiving through authentic food and reenactment.
Welcomed by historical figures at the first Thanksgiving, guests will be transported to early America through authentic harvest fare, décor and ambience. Actors from the Colonial Heritage Foundation will portray characters including Governor William Bradford, William Brewster and Edward Winslow. Guests will be furnished with snippets about these pilgrim figures.
Guests are invited to dine at tables set with pewter and use a spoon, knife or hands to eat. Each place will have a 3-foot square napkin to place over the shoulder as a hand wipe. A decadent menu includes warm cobbler, homemade bread, edible centerpieces and of course, turkey. To complete the authenticity of the dining experience, warm goat’s milk, duck and raw oysters will be available for tasting.
The Thanksgiving Point Show Barn will be filled with indoor displays and live farm animals, including a milk cow, goats and turkeys. Guests can interact with the animals and participate in a variety of activities, crafts and period games.
Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Tickets bought in advance are $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 3–12 and free for children under age 2. Tickets the day of the event are $30 for adults and $20 for children. For more information, visit ThanksgivingPoint.org.

Holiday Central at Thanksgiving Point Embodies the Festive Season
Holiday Lights, Breakfast with Santa, an Ice Sculpture Contest and Voice Male in One Location, Starting Nov. 27
Beginning Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Point will transform into Holiday Central, with a month of joyful activities to celebrate the season. Visitors can take in Electric Park’s twinkling holiday light display, eat breakfast with Santa, watch a live ice sculpture contest, experience the voices of a cappella group Voice Male, shop for holiday gifts at Emporium and enjoy a delicious holiday meal at Harvest Restaurant.
Holiday Lights
Thanksgiving Point’s Electric Park dazzles visitors with a drive-through display from 6-10 p.m., Monday through Saturday, beginning Nov. 28 and running through Dec. 28. The outdoor showcase features more than one million sparkling lights set to holiday music, artwork by Simon Dewey and a reading of “The Christmas Story.”
Entry is $8 per car. Guests can also see the lights on the trolley ($2/person, $50 for a reserved trolley of up to 30 people), by horse-drawn wagon ($3/person, $90 for a reserved wagon of up to 35 people) or carriage ($30) or by bus ($25). Special 3-D glasses will be available for purchase to add a new element to the experience. Reservations for wagon, carriage or trolley can be made by calling (801) 738-2300.
Breakfast with Santa
Santa is taking a break from gift-preparation duties to host his annual breakfast at Thanksgiving Point’s Show Barn on Saturday, Nov. 28, Dec. 5, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. Joined by Mrs. Claus, his elves, the Grinch and the Gingerbread Man, Santa will host breakfast prepared by Harvest Restaurant, games, entertainment, cookie decorating and crafts.
Tickets purchased in advance are $15 for children 12 and under and $20 for kids and adults age 13 and older. Day-of tickets can be purchased for $17 for children 12 and under and $24 for adults. This event traditionally sells out, so advanced tickets are strongly recommended.

Thanksgiving Point will present its first Ice Sculpture Contest on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the outdoor Water Tower Plaza. Spectators can watch the forms take shape as local sculptors are challenged to carve a 300-lb. ice block within the two-hour time limit. Judges will award the best sculptures at 9 p.m.
There is no cost to watch. Sculptures will stay on display at Water Tower Plaza until they melt. To participate in the contest, fill out the online interest form at ThanksgivingPoint.org.
Voice Male Christmas Performance
Utah’s award-winning a cappella group Voice Male will perform its annual Christmas Concert in the Show Barn on Dec. 15-16 at 7:30 p.m. The six-man group will lend their unique twist to holiday classics using only one instrument: their voice. Tickets are $14 in advance or $17 on the day of the event.

Piggy Paint
Nothing makes me happier than freshly polished toe nails. Every Saturday, my girls and I do our nails. They love picking out bright colors, but they don't love waiting for their toes to dry.
Piggy Paint is a natural nail polish that is designed for little girls. The polish is odorless, and so is the polish remover. It dries fast too, about 60 seconds, or the equivalent of the ABC song, sung twice.
Piggy Paint is definitely kid friendly. They even have suggestions on their website about how you can use their product to help your child learn. My favorite suggestion is painting their nails pink, purple, pink, purple, to help them learn simple patterns.
They have received the Excellence Award from Safbaby.com, and have been featured on People.com's celebrity baby blog. Piggy Paint also has secret sales and exclusive offers if you follow them on Twitter (@piggypaint) or join them on Facebook.
Use code FRIENDS15L at checkout to receive your discount on anything on their website, including sale items.
